What is Veritas?
The Veritas Awards is South Africa’s oldest and most prestigious competition for market ready wines and brandies. Founded in 1991, it has become the gold standard for quality recognition, judged by an esteemed panel of international and local experts.
Judging Standards
Veritas uses an internationally aligned scoring system:

Double Gold: 93–100

Gold: 90–92

Silver Outstanding: 86–89

Silver: 80–85

Bronze: 75–79
Duimpie Bayly Vertex Award
The highest honour - the Vertex Award - is named after Wine Legend Duimpie Bayly. This award is chosen by a special panel including the international judges from all Double Gold winners. Introduced in 2017, it marks the best wine of the show (excluding Museum Class wines).
Who Judges?
The Veritas Awards boast 19 panels with 90+ accredited judges including winemakers, Cape Wine Masters, researchers, sommeliers, academics, and international experts. Local judging requires accreditation and international judges are selected based on global experience and recognition.
Consumer Focus
Veritas is unique in ensuring availability: All award-winning wines must have at least 300 bottles available for sale upon result announcement. This transparency helps consumers confidently select quality products that are truly market ready.
VinoVeritas App
The “VinoVeritas by CTP” online shop - a collaboration between Veritas, SA Litho, Getwine and FoneWorx - allow buyers to order the Double Gold and Gold award winning wines immediately after results has been announced. GetWine wine traders will deliver these wines to their doorstep.
